Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted from navigating change?
Let's get you unstuck and help you find your way.
Join WayfindersWorking in Higher Education can feel a bit...discombobulating and even lonely at times. Friends and family can listen but if they don't work in HE they just won't 'get it'.
That's why I've created Wayfinders.
It's a mentoring community for HE professionals who want a supportive place to go and share worries, find inspiration and figure out a way through the wide and varied challenges that HE presents.
Introducing: Wayfinders Mentoring Community
A six month long professional development programme that will show you how to:
- redefine your views, opinions and beliefs about yourself and what you're capable of
- find the courage and confidence to redefine what “success” means to you
- lean into a community of like minded HE professionals
- and most importantly it'll provide a safe harbour in the storm that is the HE environment right now.
This community is fundamentally about supporting you to find your way as you navigate the seemingly relentless burden of changes, challenges and crises.
This is personal AND professional development.
It's not just another generic professional development programme. It's trauma-informed, person-centred and HERA informed to make it sector specific for Higher Education.
Oh, and there are some juicy bonuses too:
- I've included a self-paced mini course packed full of exercises to help you figure out who you are at this point in your life and what it is that you really want.
- Plus there's a tactical guide to writing winning cover letters for HE roles in case you decide to go for a new job.
Is this for you?
This could be a great fit for you if any of these feel true:
- you're steering your team through change that you didn't decide on and don't necessarily agree with but need to figure out how to implement
- you're reporting to an academic line manager (who doesn't really get what you do or have time/interest to support you). You're pretty confident in yourself but you want some space to talk things through so that you can be sure that you're making the right calls
- you don't want to drag your peers and colleagues down by continually talking about how difficult things are but you know that you need somewhere to take this stuff so that you don't drown in it or burn yourself out
- your spouse and friends don't work in HE and just don't get it. When you talk to them about how challenging things are they say things like "if it's that bad, why don't you just leave" but you can't. You feel driven to see it through and you're pretty sure there ought to be a better way to go about it but you aren't sure what it is yet - if only you had some time to think..!?!
The common thread is: you're feeling unsure and you desperately want to figure things out without burning yourself out in the process.
How you feel makes complete sense and you're not alone. With a little support, I know you can find your way to more clarity and confidence.
That's why I've created this Special Edition of Wayfinders, a mentoring community for Professional Services staff in Higher Education. I want to give you a soft place to land.
But make no mistake, it's about more than just having a place to go to complain about your boss, the cuts and how hard things are.
It's more than just another training programme. This is tailored support for your individual challenges from me, a dedicated HE Management Coach and self-belief specialist, and a group of lovely, supportive peers from across the sector. But don't panic, the group(s) will be intimate enough that your voice will be heard and you'll get the support you crave.
Inside Wayfinders you will learn
- That you actually have all of the answers inside you already, it's more about how to find them.
- How and why fear and worry are keeping you stuck.
- How to put those fears and worries into perspective and build more helpful beliefs about what is possible for you.
- How to follow your feeling of ‘yes’ to make decisions that feel right.
- How to make courageous plans to move forward that, while courageous, also feel doable. This is about stretching the edges of your comfort zone, not busting right through those edges and throwing you into a stress based fight or flight response.
- How to get into action with the most easy, doable next steps.
Fancy a sneak peak?
If you're curious what it might be like inside Wayfinders you can check out the Welcome video. It's the first thing that new members have access to and it sets out what to expect and how I approach the programme.
The details you need
During term time there will be fortnightly group calls 2-3pm on Fridays. These are here to give you some structure and accountability. You'll get mentoring from me but also support and suggestions from the other group members.
Then once every half term there will be a workshop on a topic related to whatever has come up in the group over the last few months.
There will be no live calls during the month of August.
You will have access to replays of all calls including captions via an online portal.
You’ll have access to the course content, resources and call replays for the lifetime of the programme so you can go through everything at your own pace and come back to it again and again.
This is about supporting you to develop the skill, strategy and most importantly, the beliefs that will support you as you lead your team(s), your institution and most importantly, yourself through this next 6 months.
And if you want some tailored 1:1 support then you can book a coaching call with me on a wildly reduced pay as you go rate of £40 per hour.
This programme is for you if...
- You’ve feeling stuck, exhausted and unsure about your work and career in Higher Education
- You want to feel like you know what you're doing.
- You’re also ready to do the deeper work of looking at your protective beliefs and conditioning that are keeping you feeling scared and unsure. Past participants have commented that my approach can sometimes feel more like therapy than what they expected from coaching so please be aware of that.
This programme is not for you if...
- You’re not prepared to do things that feel uncomfortable in order to move towards that new version of you who feels competent and confident.
- You think that feelings and emotions are for losers.
- You want someone to do it for you.
- You’re not willing to put in the work/time required to make change.
Ready to join?
We get started at 2pm on Friday 2nd May 2025.
